Week 3 Day 3

Pray:

Ask God to reorient you to Himself. Confess any known sin. Thank Him for His forgiveness. Be still and reflect on Jesus and His sacrifice for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind to God’s Word. Pray for others in your life that they, too, would know and love God today.

Read:

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Reflect:

What about evolution? What about it? Even if evolution on a large scale were true, it would explain very little. Evolution is not an explanation; it requires one. It presupposes an order and a design, a very elaborate design. Do not be put off by the attempted use of the word “evolution” as an automatic dismissal of God as creator. Evolution (even if it were a fact as commonly believed) would not explain the universe. It would not explain itself. It would not explain you, your real need, and your real solution.Everyone lives by faith; not everyone’s faith is well-placed. We understand (know) by faith (of course, since we were not there) that the universe was formed at God’s command. Everything exists because God wanted it to. It continues to exist because he still wants it to. There is enormous practical application of this reality. If everything exists because he wanted it to and continues to exist only because it pleases him that it does…then what does this say about ultimate human purpose? What are the applications and implications for your day-to-day life to live in a world and in a body that were made by him, for his pleasure? There are multiple problems with evolution on a macro scale but possibly the largest problem, practically speaking, is the attempted use of it as a principle to replace God. This, of course, is nonsense. Evolution would require design…it does not supply or explain it. Close the gap on your faith…quit being tricked by grand claims of culture that do not explain what they say they do. God is the designer and therefore he is the owner…the rightful king of our lives.

Pray:

(Personalize this prayer today; make it specific to the circumstances that face you.)
Ask God to lead you through His Spirit as you go through your day. Ask Him to bring to mind the truth of the gospel and its implications for what you will encounter today. Tell Him “Yes” to His will and ask Him for His power and protection to live this “yes.” Ask God to create and reveal opportunities to proclaim the good news today.
