Whether single or married, we have the same essential calling: bring glory to Christ by putting the interests of others ahead of our own.
Our wisdom, strength and riches are not to be trusted. We have one legitimate boast, “I know the Lord!” I must delight in the things God delights in: love, justice, and righteousness.
God is not petty, like we often are. He is faithful to show us our sin and to forgive and restore us if we are faithful to ask and honest enough to pay attention.
As you prepare your physical body for the day…putting on clothes, brushing your teeth and hair and whatever else your daily patterns are…talk to God about your heart. Ask him to renew you there today. Ask him to conform your heart to the image of Christ.
As members of Christ’s body, the church, we have different roles and life callings. We must not look around and wish we had another’s role or calling. We must take what God has given us and be found faithful. Be grateful! You have been included in the eternal loving relationship of God the Father, Son, and Spirit.
Do you have someone under you who seems to be struggling to follow you? Pray for them. Try to put yourself in their shoes as much as you can. Have a vision for how your life can impact theirs.
Open your palms and hold them up to God. Tell God that you once again entrust your life to him. You cannot save your life anyway; God alone has control over your days and what happens in those days. Experience his peace now. Give your life to him again.
If you have authority over others in the home, church, or workplace, do you want those under your authority to follow you only when you are perfect? God alone is perfect. Submit to appropriate human authority as a demonstration of your submission to God’s authority.
Let your words demonstrate a heart that trusts God by showing honor to those he has placed in authority.
God is a loving Father who is pleased to give us everything in Christ. “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” (John 8:36)
God will sustain you until the harvest comes in, but you must not presume on his faithfulness; you must choose to be found faithful yourself.
You need to live with both passion and pace. Passion is about a settled direction, but it is also about having energy and enthusiasm for that settled direction. Pace is staying faithful over the long haul.
