6.1.25 – Wholly True to the Lord: 1 Kings 8
This week’s sermon from 1 Kings 8 showed us a majestic and sobering vision of worship. As Solomon dedicated the temple, God’s glory filled the space, reminding us that worship is about encountering the living God. This chapter gives us a picture of corporate worship that centers on God’s glory, remembers His faithfulness, is saturated with prayer, and calls all nations to wholehearted devotion.
We were also reminded that the temple ultimately points us to Jesus—God’s true dwelling among us. Jesus is the glory of God in flesh. Through Him, we are invited into worship that is not merely ritual but real—rooted in repentance, reverence, and rejoicing.
MAIN POINT: Corporate worship is one of the primary ways God nourishes and strengthens His people. It is not about consumption or performance but about gathering around the glory of God in Christ and offering ourselves wholly to Him.

LET’S REMEMBER: keeping the glory of God at the center of our worship shapes everything. God-centered worship fosters repentant hearts and makes sin less appealing. As we lift our eyes to Him, our hearts are stirred with deeper affection and stronger devotion.

Lord, you are glorious and faithful. Thank you for your presence that fills our lives and your promises that never fail. Help us worship you with whole hearts, not as passive consumers but as your gathered people. Draw us deeper into your glory, fuel our devotion, and shape us through your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
