The resources God has given us to live a thriving life are His Word, Spirit, and People.
Read God’s Word:
Exodus 25-28
Act 2: God’s Covenant People
Scene 3: The Sinai Covenant and law: God embraces and instructs his people
Background Information: Exodus 25-28
The Tabernacle was the portable tent where God’s presence dwelt among the people. The Bread of the presence was laid before the Lord each morning and eaten by the priests each evening. It was a reminder of the Lord’s daily provision. Think of the Lord’s prayer, “Give us this day our daily bread.” The details of the Tabernacle’s symbols were significant and pointed to the Holiness of God. As you move from the inner most holy place to the outside, the structure becomes less complex and the building materials less precious. They also pointed back to Eden where man lived in God’s presence. There were flowers, angels, gold, and there is to be a perpetual light, burning with the purest of oil. In John 1, Jesus was said to have become flesh and dwelt among us. The word dwelt means tabernacled. Ultimately, all these symbols pointed to Jesus. After he made the final sacrifice, the curtain that separated sinful men from God was torn in two from top to bottom. (Mark 15:38). As you read these chapters don’t get lost in the details but remember that they point to Jesus, who has removed the barrier that stood between us and God.
