The resources God has given us to live a thriving life are His Word, Spirit, and People.
Read God’s Word:
Genesis 3-5
Act 1: God’s Plan for All People
Scene 2: The Fall: Rejecting God’s vision for life
Background Information: Genesis 3-5
In these chapters you read of the fall of mankind from God into sin and death. You also read the very first sign of the gospel, “He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” You see the impact of the curse in all human relationships, man to God, man to man, and man to nature. You see the curse lived out in the first murder, a brother by a brother. You see the curse in the genealogy of chapter five and its constant refrain…”then he died.” You see the promise of God in that long list of the dead in a single mysterious person, Enoch. He was said to have walked with God and did not die; God took him. Someday we will know more of that story, but what we know now is that even before man’s fall into sin, God’s plan was in place. This too is a mystery, but a comforting one. God was not surprised by the sin of Adam and Eve, and his eternal purposes will come to pass. The gospel was and is God’s plan of redemption from sin’s curse.
