The resources God has given us to live a thriving life are His Word, Spirit, and People.
Read God’s Word:
Genesis 1-2
Act 1: God’s Plan for All People
Scene 1: The Creation: The God of all of life.
Background Information: Genesis 1-2
This is a description of how the cosmos came to be. It is historical fact, but it was not written as a scientific theory. Scripture is not in opposition to science since both describe the same reality. Science speculates as to “how” things came to be but cannot tell “why” things are. Genesis tells us both the “how” and “why.” The “how” was “in the beginning, God created” and the “why” was for his own glory. Look at the stars or sunny sky, then look at your own hand. The cosmos was made and you were made, by God for God. Notice in Genesis 1:26 it reads, “Let us make in our image.” We read the Old Testament in light of the New Testament. In the Old Testament the Trinity was “concealed,” and in the New Testament the Trinity is “revealed.” The cosmos was created by the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This same God is the divine author of the Bible you are reading. As you read each day, ask him to illuminate his word. Ask him to use his word to make you more like him.
