Hearing God’s Voice from His Word
James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”
Take a moment and turn your attention to God. Tell God that you desire to trust and obey Him. Ask God to speak to you from His word.
SCRIPTURE READING:
Matthew 24:14 – “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
-Jesus connects his very return to the completion of the task of preaching the Gospel to all nations.
Luke 24:45-47– “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ”
Revelation 7:9-10
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”
Having God’s Ear through Prayer
- This week we will focus on praying for our overseas partners as well as an unreached people group.
Pray for Sarah as she leads her team to reach the U people. They have been brainstorming and talking of more ways to broadly sow gospel seeds among their people group. Pray for wisdom, as well as the courage to obey and be bold.
Pray for the married couple “Mike & Rachel” as they read the Bible with Sarah. They seem to be increasingly disillusioned with Islam and open to the gospel. Pray God would open their eyes to see that Jesus is the only Way to God.
Sarah has several unique challenges in her current environment, primarily related to her people group being a minority and overall very fearful. Pray for Sarah and her team to live and work with much HOPE, not because of “results” that they can see, but rather because they serve the Living God!
- Pray for the Gujar (Goo – jar) a Hindu people living in the United States. 0% of this group adheres to Christianity. Their primary religion is Hinduism.

Living as God’s People by applying the Bible
Scripture Reflection from the Sermon
Do you remember the story that Brad told on Sunday about his friend who trusted in Christ but did not have a community of faith to join? Just like we enjoy easy access to the Bible, we also enjoy easy access to fellowship in the church. Our story in the states is not like the story of those living among the unreached people of the world. For them to come to faith would mean that they would be an outcast in their family, rather than experience the blessing of Christian fellowship. Give thanks to God for your local church. Give thanks to God for the brothers and sisters who walk with you and encourage you in the faith. Because of God’s gift of salvation, we can enjoy the gift of belonging to God’s people. We will experience the fullness of this reality in the new heavens and new earth, but we enjoy a foretaste of this reality now. Pray for those who are one of only a few people in their people group who know Christ. Pray that the church would be established in people groups with only a few believers. Pray that River would be a healthy church, effective in making disciples.
