Hearing God’s Voice from His Word
James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”
Take a moment and turn your attention to God. Tell God that you desire to trust and obey Him. Ask God to speak to you from His word.
Psalm of the Day
Psalm 131:1-3 Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I do not get involved with things too great or too wondrous for me. 2 Instead, I have calmed and quieted my soul like a weaned child with its mother; my soul is like a weaned child.
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord, both now and forever.

Put Your Hope in the Lord – Ask for a calm and quiet soul. Work for a calm and quiet soul by giving your cares to God. There are things that you are concerned about that are above your pay grade, they are too great or wondrous for you. This does not mean you should ignore these things but instead bring them to God. He is Great. He is Wondrous.
Scripture Reading & Reflection
Read: John 17:1-5
Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, since you gave him authority over all people,, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him. This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent Jesus Christ. I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had with you before the world existed.
Pray:
Lord Jesus, even as you asked the Father to get glory through your life, I ask the same for my life. You knew that the Father’s glory would include your death on the cross; I don’t know what it will mean for me. I am afraid of what it might mean, but I confess my trust in you and my love for you. I cannot opt out of suffering and trouble, but I can opt out of faithfulness to you. I do not want to do that. I want to be found faithful for your glory, whatever that entails. Please help me to be found faithful. Please glorify your name through my life.
