ADORATION – Reflect on God’s Greatness

GOD IS HOLY God himself is the Most Holy One. Holy means that God is perfect in His moral character. He is also unique and set apart. He is “completely other.” We share some of God’s attributes. We are like him. He is not like us. God is so holy and morally perfect in the bible is a person in an unholy state came near to God, the person would die.

He’s called the “Holy One of Israel” (Psalm 71:22, 78:41, 89:18; Isaiah 1:4, 5:19, 24). The seraphim around God’s throne cry, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory” (Isaiah 6:3). “The Lord our God is holy!” exclaims the psalmist (Psalm 99:9).

Praise God that He is Holy
Praise God that he is completely unique there is nothing and no one like him. Praise him that he is perfect in his moral character. His holiness is bright and powerful like the sun. Consider the awesomeness of his holiness. Praise God that he has come near to us and made us holy.

CONFESSION: Confess your sins to God and receive his continued mercy.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

THANKSGIVING: Giving thanks to God for his specific blessings in our lives.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100

SUPPLICATION: Bringing our requests to God.

  • Bring your personal prayer requests to God.
  • Pray for Jason and Lisa. Ask God to encourage them and direct them as they serves overseas.

God’s Marvelous Plan for the Gentiles
3 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

2 Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, 3 that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. 4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. 8 Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, 9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. 13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

A Prayer for the Ephesians
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

SCRIPTURE REFLECTION:

When you hear the word “revelation” or “revealed” what thoughts come to your mind? Do you think of deep, dark, fantastic futuristic events? The word, as used by Paul in this chapter means to disclose what was hidden. What is it that has been kept hidden until Christ came? The eternal purposes of God to redeem all people through his death on the cross. The revelation that makes sense out of everything else is Jesus Christ is the savior of the world and his life in us is our eternal hope. God revealed this because we could never have discovered it on our own. What do you think of when you hear of God’s “power” in you? Super hero stuff? Driving out demons? Healing the sick? Certainly he has the power to do all that and more but that is not how power is being presented in this chapter. Power here is the ability to understand the vast love of Christ. Power is the ability to live life in line with the truth of Christ. Real power from God is the ability to consistently grow in love for him and others. His power for your life is found inside the realm of his will for your life? Are you low on power? Where are you attempting to live? Have you come unplugged from him as your power source? Plug back in right now through repentance and surrender.
