I. Prayer to enter the Lord’s presence:

Be still for a moment. “Lord, I give the day that is now past to you.  It is yours.  I give the day that is to come to you; help me to see where you are working and to join you there.  Speak to me during these moments.  I commit them and myself to you.”

 II. Prayer of Confession:

“Lord, you are faithful to forgive me and cleanse me of my sin when I confess it to you.  I confess my sin(s) of ______________.  Thank you for forgiveness.” (1 John 1:9)

III. Prayer of Thanksgiving:

Choose to be thankful, speak out loud of what God has done.
“Thank you, Father, for _________________.  Fill my heart and my mouth with gratitude throughout this day.”

IV. Scripture Reflection

Read: Proverbs Chapter 6

Reflect:

Proverbs 6:23-26

23 For this command is a lamp,
this teaching is a light,
and correction and instruction
are the way to life,
24 keeping you from your neighbor’s wife,
from the smooth talk of a wayward woman.
25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty
or let her captivate you with her eyes.
26 For a prostitute can be had for a loaf of bread,
but another man’s wife preys on your very life.
27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap
without his clothes being burned?
28 Can a man walk on hot coals
without his feet being scorched?
29 So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife;
no one who touches her will go unpunished.

Sexual sin just may cost you your life as you know it. You lose the respect of your children or you lose your family. It may cost you your physical life if the spouse wants revenge. You cannot play with fire without getting burned; likewise, you cannot mess with sexual sin without it wrecking your life (verses 27-28). This wound of shame, disgrace, and possible death is not worth a few minutes of pleasure. And the biggest problem is that these temporal consequences are not even the worst part. They are just a foretaste of hell because the wages of sexual sin is death. (see Rom 6:23) (Akin)

 Respond:

If you’re involved with any form of sexual immorality, stop! Repent. Know that through the blood of Christ “…you have been set free from sin. God has made you his slaves. The benefit you gain leads to holy living. And the end result is eternal life.” (see Romans 6:22) Thank God for His redemptive work found in Christ Jesus.

V. Prayer for others:

Pray specifically for the concerns of your life and the lives of others.

VI. Prayer of commitment:

Lord God, I commit to love you with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my strength and with all my mind and to love my neighbor as myself.  Empower me today to love you and others with everything that I am.”  (Luke 10:27)

This Week’s Scripture Memory:
Proverbs 12:25

Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.
