I. Prayer to enter the Lord’s presence:

Be still for a moment. “Lord, I give the day that is now past to you.  It is yours.  I give the day that is to come to you; help me to see where you are working and to join you there.  Speak to me during these moments.  I commit them and myself to you.”

 II. Prayer of Confession:

“Lord, you are faithful to forgive me and cleanse me of my sin when I confess it to you.  I confess my sin(s) of ______________.  Thank you for forgiveness.” (1 John 1:9)

III. Prayer of Thanksgiving:

Choose to be thankful, speak out loud of what God has done.
“Thank you, Father, for _________________.  Fill my heart and my mouth with gratitude throughout this day.”

IV. Scripture Reflection

Read

1 John 2:15-17

15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:1

Reflect

Culture is built on ideas. Ideas are carried through champions. Artist’s take the ideas of champions and write songs, write books, and make movies that carry the idea’s of champions. Over time the ideas get embedded in the life of a culture. Satan championed the idea of a life apart from God found in the endless pursuit of pleasure and possessions. Pleasure and possessions are not bad but it’s the lust for these things that leads to an empty life. Our challenge is to discipline our minds to not let these lies take root.

Are you letting the lust for pleasure or possessions guide you to a life away from God? It can happen in subtle ways. Are you letting your mind long for just a little bit more? At each meal today take time to savor and enjoy the gift that God has given you in the food. These simple pleasures are a taste of the future life we have with him. Look for opportunities to enjoy his gifts today and be grateful throughout the day.

V. Prayer for others:

Pray specifically for the concerns of your life and the lives of others. 

VI. Prayer of commitment:

Lord God, I commit to love you with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my strength and with all my mind and to love my neighbor as myself.  Empower me today to love you and others with everything that I am.”  (Luke 10:27)

Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.
