I. Prayer to enter the Lord’s presence:

Be still for a moment. “Lord, I give the day that is now past to you.  It is yours.  I give the day that is to come to you; help me to see where you are working and to join you there.  Speak to me during these moments.  I commit them and myself to you.”

 II. Prayer of Confession:

“Lord, you are faithful to forgive me and cleanse me of my sin when I confess it to you.  I confess my sin(s) of ______________.  Thank you for forgiveness.” (1 John 1:9)

III. Prayer of Thanksgiving:

Choose to be thankful, speak out loud of what God has done.
“Thank you, Father, for _________________.  Fill my heart and my mouth with gratitude throughout this day.”

IV. Scripture Reflection

Read

Is. 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.  9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts

Reflect

If God had not revealed himself and his will to us we would be hopeless in understanding how we should live our lives.  We might guess correctly on occasion but on the whole we are terrible guessers. Of course his thoughts and ways far exceed ours, how could they not?  If we could “hold” God in our minds then either he would not be God, or we would be God. Do not be surprised or dismayed that there is mystery, this is to be expected.  He is God, we are not.

Respond

Contemplate deep space.  Let your imagination take you somewhere other than the place where you sit right now.  Consider space that is unthinkable in its vastness. Think of size, and heat, and beauty and mystery that is staggering even on the surface to contemplate.  Now think of God who thought of all that…he created it all from his mind. Go back and read the passage for today then spend a few minutes in verbal worship of God.  Speak to him and to your own soul of his greatness.

V. Prayer for others:

Pray specifically for the concerns of your life and the lives of others.

VI. Prayer of commitment:

Lord God, I commit to love you with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my strength and with all my mind and to love my neighbor as myself.  Empower me today to love you and others with everything that I am.”  (Luke 10:27)

This Month’s Scripture Memory:

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
