Week 37 Day 2

Pray:

Ask God to reorient you to Himself. Confess any known sin. Thank Him for His forgiveness. Be still and reflect on Jesus and His sacrifice for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind to God’s Word. Pray for others in your life that they, too, would know and love God today.

Read:

2 Thess. 1:8-9 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power.

Reflect:

“There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, “Thy will be done,” and those to whom God says, in the end, “Thy will be done.” All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell. No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it. Those who seek find. Those who knock it is opened.” (C.S. Lewis, The Great Divorce).

Have you let questions immobilize you?  Questions about God’s sovereignty, human responsibility, heaven, hell, suffering…?  If you have, will you ask God to mobilize you into action again? To be mobilized into action to love him and to love others?  You will have questions throughout your life and you will also have questions when this life is over. Only God is and ever will be all-knowing, but you can have knowledge that is “enough.”  Enough to have confidence that what you believe is true, in spite of the things you don’t yet know. You can have confidence that is enough to take decisive action. You can have knowledge enough to live with assurance that you are not wasting your life on the gospel, but rather recognize any other life would be a waste.  Will you move with humility and confidence into the lives of those God has given you to love with the message of the gospel? Will you live it and tell it today? Will you leave to God the things that belong to him and also assume responsibility for the things he has given to you? You have been given the responsibility and the privilege to know God and to make God known.  There is no mystery in this. As you move faithfully into what God has given you, he will give you more. More knowledge, more power, more influence, more intimacy with him. Make Jesus known today, as you go, wherever you go. Don’t see this as pressure or burden. See this as opportunity and privilege. You personally know the source of joy that the world is stumbling in the dark trying desperately to discover.

Pray

(Personalize this prayer today; make it specific to the circumstances that face you.)
Ask God to lead you through His Spirit as you go through your day. Ask Him to bring to mind the truth of the gospel and its implications for what you will encounter today. Tell Him “Yes” to His will and ask Him for His power and protection to live this “yes.” Ask God to create and reveal opportunities to proclaim the good news today.
