What is the Bible like?

We believe that the Bible, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God and without error in the original writing.

How did we get the Bible?

The Bible was given by God through chosen people and thus reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabulary of human writers. It has been translated, from many ancient manuscripts, into many languages and various versions, but at the core the truth of the message has remained.

Is the Bible useful and relevant?

The Bible is the full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice; there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. The Bible's truth is timeless and speaks to our everyday lives.

How does it compare to other holy books?

Archeology time and time again has supported the claims of the Bible. This fact sets the Bible apart from other holy books in some religions. Another interesting facet of the Bible that sets it apart is its many authors. One man through a supposed divine revelation may write a holy book, but many men from different walks of life wrote the Bible inspired by God. The miracle is that with the diversity of authors the Bible remains reliable throughout.

“All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching rebuking and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” -- 2 Timothy 3:16
